JADEN SMITH MAY HAVE DETHRONED JARED LETO AS KING OF COACHELLA STYLE

Jaden Smith might only be 16 years old, but he’s figured out a lesson that takes a lifetime for some to learn: When you find a look that works for you, stick with it—especially when it provides a kind of comfort that nothing else does. For Jaden, that’s a dress. Last weekend the rapper, actor, and “new Male Madonna” made headlines when he went to Topshop to pick up a super cozy dress, letting the world know he DGAF about gender norms. “That Moment When Your Wearing A Dress With No Pants And You Swerve Way To Hard,” he tweeted around that time.

For the second weekend of Coachella, Jaden took that look up one notch in a move that just might have knocked Jared Leto off his King Of Coachella throne. Instead of wearing a simple dress, he wore one with a floral pattern and accessorized with the essential festival add-on, a flower crown. Best of all, Jaden put both in motion as he danced across the sandy desert floor.

As ground-breaking as seeing him frolick in a flower crown seems, Jaden is actually just one more in a growing list of dudes who have used Coachella as a platform to throw up a middle finger at gender norms. Last year it was Kid Cudi who subverted perceptions with his crop top. Years before that Kanye West headlined Coachella in a Celine blouse marketed as part of a women’s collection.
