Fresh off his signing
to Roc Nation, Vic Mensa hit up the L.A. Leakers on Power 106. The
Chicago MC showed why Hov gave him a deal by spitting an impressive
freestyle over Future’s “Fuck Up Some Commas.”
The 21-year-old Savemoney co-founder explained why he signed to the
Roc. “I’ve been the hugest Jay Z fan for like my whole life,” he said.
“I got a lot of faith and belief in how they do things at Roc Nation
and being with a company like that, more than just a company, being with
people that are innovators like that, that’s what’s biggest to me.”
Now that he’s part of the family, he’s been able to pick up some
pointers from Mr. Carter. “It’s just enlightening to speak to him about
this game and pick up that game,” he said. “Jay is one of the smartest
people that I’ve ever met in general, especially in music. To be able
to sit down and press play for Hov, that’s a blessing.”
Vic is currently working on his Roc Nation debut, which will feature his Kanye West-assisted single “U Mad.”
