There are no days off for Kendrick Lamar. On Friday, the TDE kingpin was hard at work shooting a music video for “Alright,” a fan favorite cut off his chart-topping album To Pimp a Butterfly. After returning to Compton in the clip for “King Kunta,” the 27-year-old rapper took over Treasure Island near San Francisco with director Colin Tilley (Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj).
According to East Bay Express (via HHNM), 100 extras were asked to “go dumb” as Kendrick performed with the Bay Bridge in the background.
K-Dot even did his own stunts, hanging upside down several feet off
the ground by a suspension rig while he rapped for a mob of fans, which
included local rappers Ezale and Los Rakas.
“Alright” marks the third visual off To Pimp a Butterfly following “i” and “King Kunta.”
Meanwhile, the EBONY cover star is featured in Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video, which broke a VEVO record with 20.1 million views in 24 hours.
